Resumen: | Objetivo: el estudio describe las características de la oferta de plazas de residentado médico en el marco de las políticas de recursos humanos en salud en el Perú, durante el periodo 2005 al 2013. Material y métodos: se realizó un estudio de tipo observacional, descriptivo y retrospectivo, en la cual se utilizó los datos de la oferta de plazas vacantes de residentado médico, durante el periodo 2005 al 2013, publicado oficialmente por la CONAREME, y se analizó el número y la evolución de la oferta de plazas vacantes de residentado médico, desagregando los resultados por institución financiadora, modalidad de inversión, procedencia geográfica, institución formadora, sede de salud docente y priorización de la especialidad, y además se elaboró y aplicó una metodología para estimar el cierre de brecha de médicos especialistas. Resultados: la oferta de plazas de residentado médico se incrementó en 165 por ciento, durante el periodo 2005 al 2013; EsSalud es la institución financiadora que más incrementó la oferta de plazas, seguido por los Gobiernos Regionales; las plazas cautivas y por destaque se incrementaron en 156 por ciento, mientras que las plazas libre y por beca se incrementaron en 171 por ciento, y fueron los Gobiernos Regionales quienes más contribuyeron con el incremento de las plazas cautivas; las plazas ofertadas en la provincia de Lima y fuera de ella se incrementaron en 128 por ciento y 278 por ciento y en el año 2013 representaron el 36 por ciento y 64 por ciento de las plazas, respectivamente, y además se incrementó de 11 a 16 departamentos con oferta de plazas entre el año 2005 y 2013; se incrementó de 10 a 21 instituciones formadoras entre el año 2005 al 2013; se incrementó de 50 a 141 sedes de salud docente, incluyéndose centros de salud, policlínicos, clínicas y Direcciones de Salud, además de Hospitales e Institutos; las plazas de especialidades priorizadas se incrementaron en 159 por ciento, mientras que las plazas de especialidades no...(AU)^iesObjective: The study describes the characteristics of the supply of medical residency spaces under the policies of human resources for health in Peru, during the period 2005 to 2013.
